Manufacturing marketing for UK manufacturers and engineering firms
We help manufacturers get found on Google, Maps and AI answers by the engineers and buyers who source from them, and build the quote path that turns those searches into quote requests.

“powder coating” is searched about 6,600 times a month in the UK, according to Google’s Keyword Planner.
Google showed a map of local businesses on 26 of our 28 UK checks, and on 20 of them it came before the first website. On a phone, the first website result started a median 1.5 screens down.
Google showed an AI Overview for 8 of our 14 searches, and 8 of the 11 answers named specific suppliers.
You can email any company, but sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals: they need to have consented, unless they bought something similar from you and didn’t opt out when given the chance.
The CMA’s guidance sets six principles for environmental claims, from truthful and accurate to substantiated, and applies to a more limited extent when one business markets to another.

What manufacturing marketing is.
Manufacturing marketing is how a manufacturer gets found, trusted and sent drawings by the engineers and buyers who source parts and services.
For a subcontract manufacturer or an engineering firm, that means capability pages written in specification language, Google Maps, AI answers, LinkedIn and Google Ads on sourcing searches, plus a quote form that takes a drawing in one step. Here’s an example: a precision machining company publishes a page for each process and material with its tolerances and certifications, keeps its Google Business Profile current, and runs ads only on the searches its estimators can quote.
Follow a buyer from search to quote
A search names the process
In the UK, “powder coating” is searched about 6,600 times a month, “steel fabrication” about 4,400 and “sheet metal fabrication” about 1,900, according to Google’s Keyword Planner.
What we do: A page for each process, material and end market, written in specification language and checked by someone on your shop floor.
A map usually comes before the websites
In our 14 UK searches on 14 October 2026, Google showed a map of local businesses on 26 of the 28 checks, and on 20 of them it came before the first website. On a phone, the first website result started a median 1.5 screens down; for “powder coating” it was 2.7 screens.
What we do: A Google Business Profile with your processes and certifications listed, photos of real work and a review request after every job.
Some also get an AI answer
Google showed an AI Overview for 8 of the 14 searches, and 8 of the 11 answers named specific suppliers. For “precision engineering companies” on a phone, it named three firms and what each one does.
What we do: Clear capability facts on your own pages and the same company details everywhere online, so AI answers can find you and describe you correctly.
Then they send a drawing
A buyer needs to see what you can make, to what tolerance and under which certifications. On a phone, the first website result for “plastic injection moulding companies” led with exactly that: ISO 9001, press tonnage and tolerances.
What we do: A quote form that takes a drawing in one step, the lead source carried into your CRM, and reporting on quotes, then orders.
What buyers see when they search.
On 14 October 2026 we checked 14 searches for manufacturing processes and suppliers across the UK, on a phone and on a computer. Google showed its map of local businesses on 26 of the 28 checks.

Google UK across the UK, one check per search on a phone (Android) and on a computer (Windows), between 11.31am and 11.39am UK time on 14 October 2026, through DataForSEO. “First website” is measured on the phone screenshot shown above, in screens of 844px. An AI Overview counts as naming businesses when its answer listed specific ones by name; each was read by hand. Ads were rare on the day: none on a phone for any search, and 2 of the 14 searches showed them on a computer, both at the bottom of the page. For “pallet racking” on a phone, a website came first, ahead of product listings and the map. Phone ads were checked against every screenshot; computer ads are as DataForSEO recorded them. Volumes are Google Ads Keyword Planner monthly averages for the UK, fetched 14 October 2026.

The rules
What B2B marketing can and can’t do.
We read eight pages that ranked in Google’s top three for “manufacturing marketing agency” and “marketing for manufacturers” on 14 October 2026, including the seven that ranked there most often. None of them covers the UK rules on business emails, calls, company details or green claims. Pick something you might want to do and read the rule that applies.
- Allowed
“You can email or text any corporate body (a company, Scottish partnership, limited liability partnership or government body).”
ICO, Electronic mail marketing ›
What we do: The ICO says you must not hide who you are and must give a valid address to opt out. Emailing a named person, like firstname.lastname@, can also bring in data protection law, and the ICO calls it good practice to keep a do-not-email list of businesses that object.
Email buyers at companies you haven’t dealt with
“You can email or text any corporate body (a company, Scottish partnership, limited liability partnership or government body).”
Email sole traders and some partnerships
Sole traders and some partnerships are treated as individuals, so you can only email or text them if they’ve specifically consented, or if they bought a similar product from you and didn’t opt out when you gave them the chance.
ICO, Electronic mail marketing ›
What we do: Check how a business is set up before it goes on an email list: a limited company or an LLP counts as a company, a sole trader doesn’t.
Cold-call buyers at other companies
“In general, you must not make marketing calls to any number listed on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) or Corporate TPS (CTPS), unless that person has specifically consented to your calls.”
What we do: The ICO says B2B calls need screening against both registers, because sole traders and some partnerships register with the TPS. Keep your own do-not-call list too, and show your number when you call.
Leave company details off the website
Every company must show its registered name on its websites, along with the part of the UK it’s registered in, its registered number and its registered office address.
What we do: Putting them in the footer covers every page at once.
Claim the shortest lead times or the tightest tolerances
“Advertising which is misleading is prohibited.” That includes advertising that deceives, or is likely to deceive, the businesses it reaches and is likely to affect their decisions.
Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008, regulation 3 ›
What we do: Hold the evidence before the claim goes live: inspection reports, certificates and real lead-time data.
Call a product green, sustainable or recyclable
“The basis of environmental claims must be clear. Unqualified claims could mislead if they omit material information.”
What we do: Absolute claims need a high level of substantiation, and claims must be based on the product’s full life cycle unless the ad says otherwise, with the limits of that life cycle made clear (rules 11.3 and 11.4).
Make green claims to trade buyers
The CMA’s guidance sets six principles: environmental claims must be truthful and accurate, clear and unambiguous, must not omit or hide important information, must make fair and meaningful comparisons, must consider the full life cycle and must be substantiated. Between businesses it applies “to a more limited extent”: the law there bans misleading advertising, and the CMA urges the same high standards anyway.
CMA, Making environmental claims on goods and services (published September 2021) ›
What we do: Check your sustainability page and spec sheets the same way as your ads.
Rules read on ico.org.uk, legislation.gov.uk, asa.org.uk and gov.uk on 14 October 2026. The ICO says its marketing guidance is under review after the Data (Use and Access) Act. A summary to plan marketing around, not legal advice.

Your first twelve weeks.
Five stages, some running side by side. The audit comes first and the quote path straight after, so the enquiries you already get can arrive with a drawing attached. Move through the weeks to see what we’re doing in each.
Weeks 1 to 2
Capability and demand audit
We sit with your estimator and your machine list. What you can hold, in what material, to what envelope, under which certifications, and where the current quotes come from. Then we map that against what buyers are actually searching.
Weeks 2 to 5
Fix the quote path and the technical base
File upload on the quote form so a drawing can arrive in one step, lead source captured and carried into the CRM, and the capability data moved out of the brochure PDF into indexable HTML.
Weeks 4 to 10
Publish the capability pages
A page per process, material and end market, written in specification language and checked by someone at your end who knows the shop floor. Nothing goes live until an engineer has read it, because a buyer will forgive a typo and won’t forgive a wrong tolerance.
Weeks 6 to 12
Turn on paid demand
Google Ads against live sourcing intent, with negative lists doing as much work as the keywords. LinkedIn against named accounts and the job titles that sit on the approved supplier decision. Budget goes where the quote volume responds, not where the impressions look best.
Monthly, ongoing
Report on quotes, then orders
Quote requests move first and orders follow on your sector cycle, so the early reports lead on quote volume and quality while the order numbers mature. We’ll say plainly which channel produced which purchase order, including when the honest answer is that it’s still too early to tell.
